The Center for Community Ceramics is a new organization with the purpose of facilitating community ceramics programming. Our goal is for our programs to reach beyond The Clay Corner in time.
The following list of programs are presented by The Clay Corner and co-operated between both organizations.
We acknowledge that the history of ceramics includes the labor, artistry, and cultural knowledge of enslaved people, Indigenous makers, immigrant artisans, and others whose creative legacies built the foundation of what ceramics is today. These contributions are rarely recognized, and still are not adequately honored. The Diversity Scholarship is one small, and wholly insufficient, step toward addressing this imbalance and creating a more equitable present.

This program offers a six-month studio membership at The Clay Corner, on a sliding scale down to $0, for those who have been historically excluded from ceramics spaces and systems. Our aim is not just to lower financial barriers, but to affirm that everyone deserves access to the tools, materials, and community that support creative growth.
We believe that diversity strengthens us all, not only through representation, but through the richness of perspective, tradition, and innovation it brings. It is an honor to work alongside artists from a wide range of backgrounds and lived experiences. The Diversity Scholarship is more than a financial offering; it is an invitation to co-create a studio culture that reflects the full, shared history of ceramics, and to carry that legacy forward with honesty, gratitude, and care

Hosted by The Clay Corner, this 6-month residency focuses on the skills a ceramic artist needs in order to pursue a career in ceramics. Due to the demanding nature of this program, residents are asked only to donate what they can. The majority of the funding for this program comes from The Center for Community Ceramics.

We host those with established careers in the ceramic field to work in The Clay Corner studios and we support them in the best way for them. Visiting artists have included Michael Dela Dika, Jeff Campana, Day Brièrre, Ling Chun, amongst others.

The visiting artist program provides so much for both the community and the artist. The artists bring new energy, ideas, and perspective to a studio while the studio gives the same in return.

*The largest hurdle for visiting artists is arranging lodging during their visit. In addition to monetary donations, if you or someone you know is willing to host a visiting artist, lend the use of a car, or assist in any other way please reach out!

SECOND THURSDAY
ARTIST TALKS
Started in the summer of 2024, The Clay Corner hosts a different artist each month to give a free and open to the public talk. These talks help all members of the community build connections and grow together.
The Clay Corner hosts a free pottery night each Friday from 6 pm - 9 pm. It's completely free to anyone. Pots are created communally and go into seasonal fundraiser sales.
SEASONAL
FUNDRAISERS
Sean originally launched these sales in 2022 with "Fire Pots Not Guns" and raised over $5k for Moms Demand Action for Gun Control. These sales accomplish many purposes. Pots are sold "pay what you can" which increases access to handmade pottery to use in the home, 100% of sales support a cause, and they give potters/ artists a platform to give back.
